CrossFit Level 1, I also have a B.F.A in Visual Art Studies
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF
I’m an art teacher in Dallas Independent School district. I’ve grew up in the D-FW area and went to college at the University of North Texas.
WHATS YOUR FITNESS BACKGROUND, SPORTS PLAYEDWHAT IS YOURFAVORITE MOVEMENT AND DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE WOD?
I don’t have an extensive sports/fitness background, in high school I was in marching band. It counted as my P.E. credit! Later, after college I got into running, and have run several 1/2 marathons. Then I found CrossFit and Barbell, and fell in love! I’ve been CrossFitting for over 2 years now.
WHAT IS YOURFAVORITE MOVEMENT AND DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE WOD?
I love Olympic moves, so I’d say Grace is my favorite wod. It’s 30 clean and jerks for time, that’s it. Very simple.
WHAT ABOUT A LEAST FAVORITE WOD?
I have a love/hate relationship with Olympic moves, so my least favorite wod is Isabel. 30 snatches for time, that’s it. Very simple.
HOW DO YOU SEE CROSSFIT BEING DIFFERENT THAN OTHER FITNESS PROGRAMS?
Well, for me, as a person without an extensive background in sports or fitness, is that it’s so inclusive! If I can do it, anyone can. I’m motivated because each day is different and it challenges me mentally and physically. You build a family here that gives your guidance, support and energy that you will not find in your regular box gym.
LASTLY, TELL US SOMETHING OTHERS MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU…
You might know that I’m pretty dialed in with my nutrition; I just love seeing how it affects my body and performance. I’m very data driven about the whole thing and track my food pretty meticulously, but I have two long-haired Chihuahuas named Biscuit and Gravy. The two things I can almost never ever eat, but maybe wish I could, are my dogs names.
